" This will be one you can take Granny to." |
-Woody Woodruff - Actor |
Fred and Sharon Wilharm were living the American Dream. Living in an oversized home in an exclusive gated community and driving a luxury car, they were hoping to impress people with their success. Then one day it hit them. Was it really worth it? “We were in over our heads,” says Sharon. “All of our income was going into the house with nothing left over. It wasn’t worth it.” So they made a radical change. Like many other families, they made the decision to downsize. “When we started looking for a smaller home, we realized we already owned one that met all our criteria,” says Sharon. The Wilharms own a number of rental homes including one in Franklin that was the size and location that they were looking for. “And the best thing was that it was already paid for,” adds Fred. Now the couple is taking that extra income that used to go towards the mortgage and they’re producing a faith-based movie, hoping to inspire others to enjoy the luxuries of downsizing. With a background in film communications, Fred has been doing video production as a side-line for years. Sharon has worked as a writer and drama teacher. Their teenage daughter, Brittany is a high school webmaster. It was only natural to combine their talents for filmmaking. Previous projects include a movie and a documentary shot when the family lived in Florida and a 45 minute film that the couple produced with the Forest Hills Baptist youth drama team. For Class of ‘91, Fred is the director of photography and editor, Sharon is the screenwriter and director, and Brittany is assistant to the director as well as the website designer. |
Behind The Story |
"Class of '91 is on it's way to becoming a success." |

Class of ‘91 is the story of Roger and Diane Wagner who give new meaning to the term self-absorbed. Their 20th high school reunion is coming up and they can’t wait to impress their classmates with their worldly success. Then the unthinkable happens. Roger loses his management job and the Wagner’s empire comes tumbling down. When he’s offered a job as a community center director, Roger and Diane must come to terms with their new life. Do they embrace or reject it? Their response may surprise you. Class of 91 is fortunate to have an incredibly talented cast. “We’ve got a bunch of comic actors who make work on the set fun for everyone involved,” says Sharon. “I love how they took the script, really got to know their characters, and added little touches that bring a whole new dimension to the story.” In addition to the principle characters, Class of 91 includes an impressive list of supporting and minor actors. “We have characters with just one line who manage to take that one line and make it memorable,” says Sharon. With a financial theme, it was only natural to include financial expert Dave Ramsey. He plays a cameo role as himself giving advice to Roger’s dad who is also struggling with overwhelming debt. Class of ’91 is a feel good comedy sure to entertain as well as inspire. “This is one you can take Granny to,” says actor Woody Woodruff. “I can’t wait for the release,” says Marion Love. “We will be first in line.” “I doubt it,” counters Woody. “I’m buying my lawn chair and tent tomorrow and setting up. It’s worth the wait.” |
